More than 3,000 books. 500 large print. And an undaunted force of volunteers who make it happen.
The Lake Terrace Library group hosted a recent open house to show more than 70 participants the newly reorganized layout, the self-help, wellness, holiday and children’s sections, the more accessible seating areas, and the more efficient layout. Books were moved to create a more inviting reading area, and all books were labeled and alphabetized. Paperbacks were relocated to one area and thriller and mystery sections were created. ”It’s a process,” said volunteer Susan Kemnitz. “We’re still working on the autobiographies and memoirs.” The library is for use by residents and staff, and boasts soft natural light, a reading porch and a view of Lac La Belle. “We want this to feel inviting to everyone,” said Kemnitz. “We want readers to feel at home here.” Library patrons are seeking ideas for new book clubs and topics. “The open house attracted more customers and interest,” said Library volunteer Marie Baars. “We’ve revamped and rearranged it, and everyone wanted to tour.”
