“We have a lot of heart here,” said volunteer Judy Kaeppel. “And we show it every day.”
Kaeppel has been working in the Forgotten Treasures Resale Boutique since 2010, and those 15 years have been some of the most gratifying in her life. “I have such a good feeling when I help other people,” she said. “When you work with good coworkers, appreciative customers, wonderful residents, and thoughtful staff, I feel fulfilled.”
Kaeppel especially likes to help shoppers with collaborating outfits, choosing jewelry, finding color matches and “completing that look.” “I’ve really developed a fashion sense here.” “We laugh, we joke, we recognize repeat customers, we sharpen our brains though recalling names,” she said. “It’s good for me to be out using those skills.”
The volunteer role feels especially purposeful when she goes home at the end of her shift. “”I am satisfied and fulfilled about a job well done. When you have good people all around you and a solid product to sell, it goes a long way.”
