Director of Culinary Services

We are seeking an individual with a Certified Dietary Manager certification to join our team as the Director of Culinary Services. This person should have experience working in a Dining Services management role within a healthcare setting. This is a salaried, benefit eligible position working 40+ hours per week, Monday-Friday.

The Director of Culinary Services oversees the Culinary Services Manager, Culinary Aides, and Assisted Living Culinary Staff. This person will report to and be supported by the Chief Operating Officer.

Job responsibilities:

  • Manage all dining functions related to skilled care, assisted living, and CBRF.
  • Consult with the Dietician regarding menu planning, meal options, nutritional needs, and specialty diets to meet resident needs.
  • Work directly with vendors to compare current market costs to purchase quality, quantity, and variety of foods in order to fulfill all menu and special function requests.
  • Ensure standards of quality in the preparation and service of foods.
  • Ensure safe and sanitary procedures in all areas of food storage, operation of equipment, preparation, and distribution of food and work areas.
  • Hire, orient, train, and supervise all culinary aides and kitchen staff, providing counseling as needed.
  • Create staffing schedule for all dining related staffing needs.
  • Assist in general kitchen operations as needed, to cover for the absence of the supervisor or due to staff openings.
  • Complete 90-day reviews of all new-hires and plan/guide all staff meetings.
  • Prepare the annual dining budgets for SNF, CBRF, and Assisted Living.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Dietary Manager certification required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in foodservice operations with at least 2 years of foodservice operational management. Within a senior living or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations regarding safe food preparation and handling.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred (if not- required to complete within 1st year of service)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
