“We need more crayons!” Shorehaven Tower resident Al Caucutt boomed across the room. “Stat!” A dozen assisted living residents assembled 100 boxes in 45 minutes this week for Operation Christmas Child, providing hygiene, educational and gift items for needy children in Africa and Mexico. Residents stuffed Beanie Babies, art supplies, toys and balls, combs, wash cloths and coloring books into the festive boxes. “We can’t delay,” yelled resident Leslie Boettcher. “Give us some more toothbrushes!” Resident Carol Prange knit 140 brightly colored hats in 10 months to secure in the mailing. “It’s the least I could do,” she smiled. “These children really need the supplies.”linds terry
