FROM:  CEO Dale Dahlke re: Shorehaven Pool and Fitness Center

A recent maintenance and inspection of the Fitness Center indicated possible moisture issues under the roofline of the fitness equipment room, locker rooms, and lobby of the building, which warrant further inspection and examination.  This will involve some minor demolition work and holes being cut into the roof, ceiling and walls of the Fitness Center, locker rooms, exercise areas, main lobby and pool area.  While this further investigation and demolition work is underway, out of an abundance of caution, the Fitness Center and the Pool Area are going to be closed for an indefinite time starting on Tuesday, September 5th.

The Fitness Center and Pool will remain closed until repairs can be made to alleviate any possible moisture issues.  I will keep you advised as to the status of the Fitness Center, and when the exercise and pool areas will be re-opened.  Right now, I cannot predict when they will re-open, and will not be able to do so until we know the extent of the moisture, and how long it will take to make the necessary alterations to the roof and attic spaces to insure there will be no reoccurrence of moisture.

As part of the investigation into the problem, at my direction, an independent professional environmental service came in and performed air quality samples in all areas of the Fitness Center.  The air quality samples came back as normal, and the environmental service reported there was/is no risk that any of you or the residents have been exposed to any form of organic growth that could potentially affect your health.

Again, however, because there will be some demolition going on in the Fitness Center that can create dust and particles in the air, the Fitness Center will remain closed until further notice.

The Lake Terrace Clubhouse will serve as the temporary relocation site where certain fitness, exercise and yoga classes will take place.  Classes will transition to the clubhouse, and memberships will be suspended effective Tuesday, September 5. All pool classes are cancelled until further notice.
