Great opportunity for the public to find that special Christmas gift! Founders Gallery presents the Lake Country Carvers “Holiday Wood Work Exhibit” through Dec. 31 at 1306 W. Wisconsin Ave. The Center for Life Enrichment on the Shorehaven campus offers a display of wood carvings by members of Lake Country Carvers. The group was established in 1981 to promote the art of wood carving. Forty years later an active group of men and women still meet monthly to share their expertise and common interest in the craft. Some carvers “whittle” in many styles while others find a style they enjoy and specialize in, such as carving-in-the-round, relief carving, chip carving, characters, wildlife and Christmas figures. New or experienced carvers may contact Lake Country Carvers at lakecountrycarvers@gmail.com to discover the enjoyment of sharing their craft with others. “Since we meet here, it’s a real opportunity for us to show our work here,” said carver June Herman.
